Inertial Measurement Units
Provide motion, position, & navigational sensing from a durable single device over six degrees of freedom via MEMS technology.
By integrating an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), customers know in real-time the vehicle's position with respect to inclination. The machine's ECU (Equipment Control Unit) processes this information and provides feedback to the operator where the machine is sitting with respect to inclination. Such indicators allow the operator to make real-time adjustments to grade as the loader is in motion.
The Transportation Attitude Reference System or TARS-IMU is a packaged sensor array designed to report vehicle angular rate, acceleration, and attitude data for demanding applications in industries such as heavy-duty, off-highway transportation. With two sensor models for different power levels, the TARS-IMU accommodates 9 V to 36 V vehicle power systems. Communication is transmitted to the vehicle through industry standard CAN J1939 connectivity.
The Honeywell 6-D Motion Variant 6DF (six degrees of freedom) Inertial Measurement Unit sensors are designed to provide motion, position, and navigational sensing from a durable single device over six degrees of freedom. This is achieved by using MEMS (microelectromechanical system) technology to sense translational movement in three perpendicular axes (surge, heave, sway) and rotational movement about three perpendicular axes (roll, pitch, yaw). Because the movement and rotation along the three axes are independent of each other, such motion is said to have "six degrees of freedom."
