- What if the Automation You Need Doesn’t Exist?
What if the Automation You Need Doesn’t Exist?
What if the Automation You Need Doesn’t Exist?
Darius Scott, Greg Comer
19 May 2022
Great ideas don’t always come pre-packaged.
We regularly talk to distribution and fulfillment (D&F) operations and manufacturers that have an obvious need for automation — often something very specific to the products they handle — but are struggling to find the right solution.
If this dilemma sounds familiar, our experience suggests it’s due to one of three reasons:
- You know what kind of material handling equipment (MHE) you want but can’t find it in a catalog.
- You want to use an established technology in a new way.
- You have a material handling problem you don’t know how to automate.
As frustrating as these challenges can be, none of them require you to give up on your ideas. In fact, practical answers may be closer than you realize.
New Warehouse Automation Solutions Can Be Fast and Simple
Whether your operation is already using automation or still relies exclusively on manual labor, your automation ideas can quickly be transformed into turnkey solutions, even if they haven’t been invented yet.
How? Through collaboration with Honeywell United Sortation Solutions (USS), a creative and nimble operation that’s been developing practical custom material handling solutions since 2003.
Unlike most MHE resources, USS doesn’t create an inventory of solutions for clients from which to choose. Instead, they specialize in devising simple, creative solutions to specific material handling problems. This could be anything from an individual module to a large system solution, a large sortation system or some other innovation.
The USS workflow is designed to deliver practical solutions that work in short time frames, backed by comprehensive testing that ensures hassle-free integration. These solutions can be adapted and changed as needed in response to test scenarios or on-site deployments — with your voice and vision guiding every step of the process.
Find the Key to Your Solution in Our Next On The Move Webinar
On Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. EDT (11 a.m. PDT), we’ll present a free 30-minute On The Move webinar focusing on the USS process, and discuss how it’s been helping fulfillment operations to solve some of the world’s toughest material handling challenges for nearly two decades.
Register today to find out if collaboration with USS might be right for you, and determine whether you need rapid development of scalable custom equipment, innovative adaptations of existing technologies or simple insights into complex automation problems.
