Strategic Collaboration With OTTO Motors Expands Your DC’s Options

Strategic Collaboration With OTTO Motors Expands Your DC’s Options

As part of Honeywell Intelligrated’s ongoing commitment to provide distribution and fulfillment (D&F) operations with a wide range of automation options, I’m pleased to announce our strategic collaboration with OTTO Motors, which was made public on March 24.

This  exciting collaboration enables you to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve safety by deploying OTTO’s autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in your facilities. These AMRs can provide significant productivity benefits by automating the movement of pallets and order picking carts and can travel over any floor surface smooth enough to handle a traditional cart pushed by a worker. Instead of spending more than half the day walking, workers can simply park carts or pallets in designated locations throughout the facility and call robots to retrieve them.

    Not Your Average AMR

Because AMRs can handle repetitive and often time-consuming tasks, increasingly scarce labor resources can be shifted to higher-value jobs. This alone delivers multiple benefits, such as boosting worker satisfaction and lowering material handling costs, while reducing injuries and turnover rates.

But AMRs from OTTO Motors take these benefits several steps further. For example, the OTTO 1500 boasts the highest payload capacity among its form factor in the industry to date: 1,900 kg (4,200 lbs), which is about the weight of a medium-sized car. Even when fully loaded, the same robot can travel at an industry-leading speed of 2 m/s (6.6 ft/s).

True workhorses of the logistics industry, OTTO AMRs are built tough to withstand the rigors of 24/7 warehouse work, with all-industrial grade construction. Some models also feature solid-state, military-grade computers. Battery life is impressive  and quickly recharge through its autonomous opportunistic charging capability via high-speed docking stations . The robots can even integrate with elevators and lifts, enabling loads to be moved between levels of a facility.

OTTO’s easy-to-install AMRs are smart enough to interact safely with human co-workers and other vehicles, find a different route if their original path is blocked, and respond to rapid changes in orders or logistics needs — all without human intervention.

OTTO AMRs can also work in conjunction with Honeywell Intelligrated warehouse automation solutions, including our smart flexible depalletizer and next-generation automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS), further increasing efficiency and automation within the warehouse.

The OTTO Motors collaboration expands and enhances Honeywell Intelligrated’s suite of fixed and mobile robotics solutions, backed by expert systems integration, solutions development and reliable 24/7 technical support. For more details, visit our Mobile Robotics page.
