- Building a Strong Software Foundation
Building a Strong Software Foundation
In modern distribution and fulfillment (D&F) operations, where material handling equipment (MHE) and automation systems must be seamlessly integrated, establishing a robust software platform is essential for achieving long-term success. Machine control software serves as the foundation for these warehouse automation ecosystems, enabling communications and decision points among various components of a material handling system.
From managing print and apply machines and gap optimizers to general conveyance, merges and sortation, machine control provides a human-machine interface (HMI) to help end users operate their material handling system and perform key functions, such as:
- Starting and stopping of machine systems
- Providing system services and input/output (I/O) management
- Conducting material handling operations
- Troubleshooting and maintenance support
Machine control also serves as the foundational base layer upon which more advanced automation software can be added, such as a warehouse execution system (WES) or a warehouse management system (WMS).
Read our application brief to learn how Honeywell Intelligrated’s modern machine control solution, MC4, can integrate and improve your distribution and fulfillment (D&F) operations.
