    My First Lineman's Rodeo Experience

By Matt Passannante, Sr. Customer Marketing Manager – Honeywell Salisbury

This past October, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 40th Annual Lineman’s Rodeo in Kansas City. This three-day event was a remarkable gathering that drew over 5,000 attendees and exhibitors, making it one of the most significant events in the industry.

The Conference: A Hub of Industry Professionals

The first two days of the event were dedicated to a conference held in Overland Park, KS. The conference was a melting pot of lineworkers and more within the industry, including Troubleman, Journeymen, Apprentices, Prime Power Supervisors, Line Supervisors, among others. It was inspiring to see such a diverse group of professionals come together. The presence of families and children, many part of the junior lineman group, added a warm, community-oriented atmosphere to the event.

The Rodeo: A Showcase of Skill and Teamwork

On the third day, the action moved to Bonner Springs, KS, for the rodeo events. Over 1,100 linemen participated in multiple competitions, displaying their skills and expertise in a friendly yet competitive environment. The camaraderie and dedication were palpable, making it a truly memorable day. Our social media presence was strong throughout the event, with several LinkedIn posts capturing the essence of the rodeo:

The Jr Lineman Event: Nurturing Future Talent

Also known as the Kids Rodeo, the Jr Lineman event was a delightful addition to the rodeo. It provided young aspiring linemen with an opportunity to participate and learn, fostering the next generation of industry professionals.

The 40th Annual Lineman’s Rodeo was an unforgettable experience, showcasing the best of the industry and fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. I am already looking forward to next year’s event and the new memories it will bring.
