    Frequently Asked Questions

“For which material to be handled are SmartSort Swivel Wheel Diverters like the TS4810 suitable?”

We have experience with a wide range of conveyed goods. These include carton boxes, plastic totes, trays, envelopes, polybags, and tires. Even strapped stacks of newspapers have already been tested and proven to be conveyable. We achieve the best results with dimensionally stable conveyed goods with a flat underside.

“Are there limitations for polybags and returned items handled by a Swivel Wheel Diverter?”

We have to distinguish between conveyable and non-conveyable goods. Of course, physical limits also apply to our SmartSort technology. However, we were able to move these a little thanks to a small pitch and wheels with high grip. For special or critical conveyed goods, we offer our partners the opportunity to test them in advance and release suitable configurations.

“What is the smallest package that can be handled with a Swivel Wheel Diverter?”

Packages with a floor area of 100 x 100 mm or more have been tested and released as standard. Customer tests show that even smaller conveyed goods down to the size of a business card can be removed with high reliability thanks to our small roller pitch.

“What are the key decision criteria for choosing between a Swivel Wheel Sorter and a Shoe Sorter?”

Considering throughput rates, number of exits and layout flexibility, the following guideline can help you to decide: For applications with up to 8,000 units per hour and less than 20 exits, a SmartSort Swivel Wheel Diverter solution might be a more efficient solution than a conventional line sorter, especially when the layout requires flexibility. If your operation requires higher throughput rates and/or more than 20 exits, a line sorter (such as a shoe sorter) will probably be the better choice.

“What’s the most compelling ROI factor for adopting Loop Sortation technology?”

Higher throughput with consistent performance. Loop sorters maintain steady, high-speed flow even during peak periods, allowing facilities to process far more units per hour without adding shift labor or parallel systems. Space efficiency reduces cost per square foot: Loop designs make excellent use of floor space, often replacing much larger conveyor footprints. More throughput in less space means better return on building and infrastructure investments. Lower error rates can reduce rework and customer service costs. The accuracy of loop sorters minimizes mis-sorts, returns, and customer dissatisfaction, each of which carries both a direct and hidden cost.
