- Six Advanced Mobile Computing Capabilities of the Honeywell CT47
Six Advanced Mobile Computing Capabilities of the Honeywell CT47
Six Advanced Mobile Computing Capabilities of the Honeywell CT47
18 April 2024
Industrial organizations are adopting mobile computing technology at a rapid rate to achieve the productivity and efficiency gains they seek. To help ease the transition, enterprise devices are evolving to look and feel like consumer smartphones, allowing workers to quickly adapt to the new technology and integrate the devices into their workflows.
Honeywell’s CT47 ultra-rugged mobile device has several advanced computing capabilities that make it the ideal mobile computer solution for industrial enterprises.
1. Ergonomics and screen displays
Consumer-based smartphones have set the standard for mobile computing solutions due to their prevalence in everyday life. Enterprise devices are expected to meet the same standards and elicit the same emotional response from frontline workers.
Honeywell’s CT47 is comparable to the size of personal smartphones, making it easy for workers to adapt into their workflows. Its full high definition (FHD) 5.5-inch screen is ideal for use in both dimly lit and sunny outdoor environments, and the Gorilla® Glass 5 offers increased screen durability. Glove, stylus, and rain modes allow workers to use the devices in any environment.
2. Connectivity and processing power
Gaps in network coverage can lead to data loss, repeated workflows, and lost productivity. However, industrial environments can span large ground areas, making connectivity critical to keeping the workforce connected in remote locations or in the far corners of a warehouse.
The CT47 leverages the full power of 5G, CBRS, or Wi-Fi 6E technology, allowing the device to stay connected in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its Qualcomm® 6th gen AI engine and graphics processing ensure the CT47 has the processing power to handle traditional and new applications for user workflows.
3. Battery Life
Many industrial enterprises rely on always-on and always-connected devices to meet tight delivery schedules and deadlines. However, poor battery management can hamper worker performance. Pulling workers away from their tasks to charge their devices or swap a battery can be a significant disruption to workflow and productivity.
The CT47 mobile computer has a long-lasting 4,775-mAh battery that can last an entire shift for many use cases. These batteries can be warm swapped with fully charged batteries to minimize downtime. An extended 7692-mAh battery is available for extra demanding use case applications. A wireless charging 4680-mAh battery adds flexibility for charging in standard locations and vehicles.
4. Ruggedness
Industrial enterprises can be demanding environments for mobile computers due to their exposure to the elements and the nature of work activities. VDC research indicates that 50% of respondents cite dropping devices as a top cause of device issues, and just over 46% cite cracked screens as a foremost symptom.
The ultra-rugged Honeywell CT47 mobile computer is designed to endure the most challenging environments. This device can withstand multiple 2.45m (8ft.) drops to concrete and over 3,500 tumbles at 0.5 m (1.64 ft.) without sacrificing performance.
5. Scanning Accuracy
Scanning data from barcodes is a fundamental and critical workflow in almost every industry today. Misreads, therefore, have the potential to hamper workflow progress severely. To avoid these misreads, scanners must be capable of reading hard-to-read or damaged barcodes and cover a wide variety of scan ranges, including near and far, high and low, and diverse barcode sizes.
Honeywell’s CT47 provides high-powered scanning performance up to 80 feet, which is often required in industrial warehouses. The FlexRange XLR scan engine enables a single device to cover virtually every scanning use case, allowing industrial enterprises to deploy fewer device types in their facility.
6. Security
Cybersecurity is a significant concern for any organization embarking on the digital transformation journey. With IBM research indicating that an average data breach costs an organization $4.45 million, it is vital to protect handheld devices from unauthorized access.
The CT47 is fitted with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to help keep data safe and secure. Fingerprint sensors can be operated with one hand, making it easy to access biometric authentication. Facial recognition is also available through the front camera of the CT47 device.
Conclusion
As mobile computer solutions continue to expand in the industrial enterprise market, the technology of handheld devices is quickly advancing. Honeywell’s CT47 device offers several advanced mobile computing capabilities especially suited to industrial applications.
