- Automate Order Picking and Inventory Replenishment
Automate Order Picking and Inventory Replenishment
Growing e-commerce demands continue to put pressure on omnichannel distribution and fulfillment (D&F) centers. Facing a perpetual need to be stocked with multiple SKUs, space is often hard to come by. Space-saving solutions have proven to be a top priority for DCs that are looking to operate efficiently without having to invest in constructing more warehouse space. Another problem DCs face is the declining number of skilled workers able to pick and ship orders to meet the high volume of customer service level agreements prevalent among today’s online buyers. Automated solutions can keep warehouse operations running smoothly and equip them with the processes needed for future scalability.
Automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) offer a two-fold solution for D&F center operators. AS/RS technology can provide a dense level of storage space, house multiple SKUs, and allow vertical room for expansion without having to invest in more warehouse space. This technology can map your operation and pick orders with high levels of accuracy. Without AS/RS doing the picking, operators would have to allot time for workers to walk up and down DC aisles and select items.
This integration of AS/RS technology for omnichannel fulfillment and distribution centers creates opportunities to establish process efficiencies, preparing DCs for future scalability. As the e-commerce industry continues to grow, your DC will be well-equipped to handle a fair distribution of work by relying on both human workers and automated robots. This partnership will improve efficiency, increase order accuracy, and allocate resources to where they are needed most.
Read our white paper to learn more about the benefits of integrating AS/RS solutions into your warehouse operation.
